Further research revealed a broader pattern: burglary, credit card theft, drug possession, disorderly conduct, and a fugitive charge. There were also multiple civil cases tied to outstanding debt, along with allegations of theft from a former colleague.
Individually, some of these could be explained away. Together, they told a very different story — one that would not have been uncovered through a standard screening.
The Resume Didn’t Hold
The background didn’t match the narrative.
A claimed bachelor’s degree in finance had never been earned. The candidate had only enrolled, and in a different field entirely. A four-year tenure at a prior employer proved to be only a few months and the listed supervisor had never worked there.
Several short-term roles, each lasting one to two months, were omitted entirely from both the application and LinkedIn profile.
